Was trying to go to sleep need to be up in 7 hours. oh well…

Something that has always eluded me is why do people view survivalists and the subsequent act of survivalism as bad? Not all of us are Branch Davidians, members of the Michigan Militia, or followers of Timothy McVeigh. Not all of us are members of Christian Identity groups. Not all of us are Mormon (although they do have an awesome food requirement used to be 7 years now I think it is down to 2 in some areas). Not all of us want to overthrow the government. Not all of us want anarchy.

Survivalism is not a bad word. If one thinks hard enough about human history we are all descendants of survivalists. Life for early man was not easy. I really don’t feel that I need to go into great detail but until the turn of the 19th century life was at best hard. Our ancestors are survivors of plague, famine, war, unrest and social disintegration. To prepare for ones ultimate survival in times of bad, is not insane, it is the only rational human thing to do.

We are no different than any other group. We have extremists that take things to the extreme. Are there other groups that have the same? Yes and to say no you are lying to yourself. Environmentalists have Green Peace and Earth First. Christians have people who blow up and kill abortion doctors. Muslims have people who strap bombs to there chests and run into coffee shops. Liberals have NOW and PETA. Republicans have Limbaugh. All of these are subsets of a larger group that have distorted a message and twisted it into some form of realism.

My dream is that all of my preparation turns out to be just a big waste of money. Do current trends point to that dream. No and that is why I have devoted my life to saving the lives of my family. I am a father and a husband. I have a duty to my family to provide for them. It is my job to put food on the table even if food sources run scarce. It is my duty to my family to protect them and make them feel safe. Are these bad things? I think not. Ones allegiance to ones family is the bedrock that civilization is built on.

I live my life by two trinities one is that of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost. The other is that of Family, Farm and Faith. A man can exist with either one. But a man can only live with both.

I am a normal guy with a semi-normal job. I wear my seat-belt; I drive an SUV; I take my kids to the park; I wear blue jeans and t-shirts. I have credit cards; my phone number is listed; I love my wife; I go to McDonald’s. I go to church. I call the police when needed. I help little old ladies across the street with their groceries. I open doors for woman. I say please, thank you, and sir. If I am not acquainted with some one I call them Mr. or Mrs.  I live in an apartment. I am normal in all respects except one…

I prepare for a multi-generation societal collapse, not because I want this to happen, but because I fear that this will happen. But when the day comes my family and I will be ready. Will yours?

Urbane Out…
