I know that sounds funny but it is true, they are coming and they will attack…

Zombies, bottom feeders, beggars, scum whatever you may call them they are mounting a resistance. Right now we see them outside churches standing in line for handouts; waiting for the mythical prophet to drop a box of food in their lap. Waiting for the messiah to walk across the backs of the people who built this country with sweat and tears and hand them a check, a car and a house. They wait and scream because they don’t have affordable health-care (I don’t know how free-to-them isn’t affordable) yet sit at home all day eating food that my tax dollars (free-to-them) have provided. They harass me for change when I walk down the street and when I tell them to get a job; they tell me to kiss their ass. They wait for the taxpayers of Nebraska to send a cab (free-to-them) to pick them up from one medical appointment (paid  for with taxpayer dollars) and take them to another appointment (that will be paid for with taxpayer dollars). They wait in lines, stalk counters, complain, bitch, moan, and tell the world how they have been wronged. All the while they haven’t done anything to make their situation any better.

As a cab driver in Lincoln for 2 or so years, I always dreaded the first of the month. It was welfare / SSI / Voucher Day, and oh, how the bottom feeders used the system. They would berate me when I would show up at the grocery store to pick them up, because I took too long. My response was normally, “Oh, I am sorry, I didn’t realize you had someplace to be.” They then would wait on me to load their groceries (which I paid for). They then would wait on me to unload their groceries (which I paid for). They then would tell me how they couldn’t, or wouldn’t, or shouldn’t tip me because I have more money than they do.

It pissed me off more often than not and I eventually had to leave that job and go elsewhere. There was something else though. There was a look in their eyes that is almost scary. This look said I was once human but now I am not. All I do is wait for my life to appear, and then I follow where I am supposed to follow. I wait where I am supposed to wait; and if I do everything the way that I am supposed to the messiah will grace me with treasures.

This look, this look of a wasting human is fearsome. It is the scariest look that I have ever seen and wish I would never have to see it again. It is the look that says if you allow us we will take everything you have. If you allow us we will have everything you have. If you allow us you will become one of us. If you allow us we will turn you into a zombie as well.

These are the zombies that I fear in my sleep. These are the zombies that I see coming in my windows at 2 am threatening the life of my family. These are the zombies that when the crash happens, will be roaming the streets looking for even the slightest glimpse of life to destroy. They are gaining in numbers. You can hear their deathly moans echo off the halls of city council, state and Congress. You can hear them wanting more and you can hear the system groan under their strain. These Zombies are the product of the welfare state.

Urbane Out…
